Setup

When can I start trading a real challenge account or with real money at a broker?

We strongly advice all members to run the FTMO 14 day trial until you’re comfortable with the APE and the settings. While running the trial account, there’s absolutely no risk to you at all, so you can play with the settings without losing anything.

You can start as many trials as you want, so as soon as one expires then you can just set up a new one.

If you can pass their 14 day trial, then you’re certainly ready for the real thing.

Connecting to a VPS if you’re using a Mac computer

Go to the app store on your Mac and search for ‘Microsoft Remote Desktop’.
It’s going to look like this:

Open the app and click the little + icon at the top, then ‘Add PC’:

In the new window that pops up, all you have to do for now is enter the IP address you got
from Cloudzy in the top field called ‘PC name’, and then click the ‘Add’ button at the bottom.

Double click the little blue window at the top, and then you’ll see a popup asking for your
username and password. Find the credentials you got when you signed up with Cloudzy and
input that here. The username is always going to be ‘Administrator’.

That’s it, you’re now connected to your VPS!

Connecting to a VPS if you’re using a Windows computer

This feature is built into Windows itself, so you won’t have to download anything.
Go to the bottom left corner of your windows bar and click on the search field, then type Remote Desktop Connection. The click the app at the top as shown below:

After opening the remote desktop connection, you will see a window with one input field that
says ‘Computer’. This is where you enter the IP address you got when you signed up with
Cloudzy. Click connect after entering your IP:

On the next window, click on ‘More choices’ and then ‘Use a different account’.

Now enter your username and password from Cloudzy and click OK.

You will see a final pop-up, all you have to do is click YES.

How to schedule the APE to run during certain days/hours only

After opening the APE settings as shown above, go to the ‘Inputs’ tab, scroll down near the bottom until you see the section with the five weekdays and the starting/ending hour settings.

How to download and install the Limitless APE

The latest APE version can always be found in the #ape-download channel in our Discord group. Go there and click the download arrow on the file:

Inside your MT4 client, you’ll now want to click ‘File’ and then ‘Open Data Folder’.

A folder will open up. Click on ‘MQL4’ and then on ‘Experts’. Once inside the Experts folder, this is where you’ll want to paste the APE file in.

Go back to your MT4 client window, click the ‘Navigator’ button at the top as shown below, then right click on ‘Expert Advisors’ in the list and hit ‘Refresh’.

The APE file you just placed in the folder will now show up on the list. Drag it onto the gold chart, and click ‘OK’. You’re done!

How to download and install setfiles

The setfiles can be found in the #ape-setfiles channel on our Discord server. There are a few different ones to choose from.


Once downloaded, go into your APE settings, open the ‘Inputs’ tab and click ‘Load’. Pick the setfile you just downloaded onto your VPS. That’s it!

How to pick what Magic Number to use

The Magic Number is very important and should be 8 digits long.

It has to be unique for all members, so we use a random number generator.

How do I download and set up the Metatrader 4 mobile app?

The mobile app is free on both Android and Apple devices. You simply go into the App Store or Google Playstore and search for ‘Metatrader 4’ and download the one that looks like this:


Once inside, you click on the menu button in the top left corner -> then ‘manage accounts’ -> click the + icon in the top right corner and then pick ‘Login to an existing account’.

Now you simply log in with your brokers or prop firms credentials (if you’re running the
FTMO trial, you can find the credentials in your client area on their website).

Once that’s done, you will see some tabs at the bottom of the app.

The 1st tab lets you add more pairs to watch.

The 2nd tab shows you the chart of a selected pair, so this is where you can pick gold and see your APE work it’s magic while you’re away from home!

The 3rd tab shows your currently running trades.

The 4th tab shows the history of your already closed trades, so this is where you’ll see your results for any given day.

General Questions

How do these prop firm challenges work?

Before you can gain access to a lot of capital from a prop firm, you have to complete one of their challenges to prove your worth. This is because they only want traders with proven strategies to join them (which you now have thanks to the APE!).

These challenges are done on demo accounts with ‘pretend money’ similar to the FTMO trials you are starting out with, so there’s no risk for anyone.

After you pick your desired account size with the Prop Firm, you will have to pass two phases of a challenge, it will look something like this:

Phase 1: Grow the demo account balance by 8% in 30 days. (For example $10.000 -> $10.800 to pass).

Phase 2: Grow the demo account balance by 5% in 60 days. (For example $10.000 -> $10.500 to pass).

This may sound like a long time, but you don’t actually have to spend the full duration, they just require you to trade at least 5 days total per phase, so technically you can be done in 10 days if you run very aggressive settings (we recommend going slow, don’t rush it).

After passing, you will get access to $10.000 in real money, if that’s the account size you chose. At that point, you will be getting monthly payouts of 80-90% of the profits you make, the percentage depends on the Prop Firm you sign up with.

There are three possible outcomes for you when you try a challenge:

You fail and end up below the starting balance: The fee you paid is lost, and you have to pay to get another try.
Your time runs out, but you are above the starting balance: You will get a FREE retry of the challenge.
You hit the target and pass the challenge: You get access to the live account and your challenge fee is refunded in full.

What currencies to trade?

We’re mainly trading GOLD. Inside your mt4 symbols list, it’s going to be called XAUUSD.

Apart from that, you need to pick some random forex currency pairs like Jonas shows in the ‘Staying Safe’ video.

What timeframe are we running the APE on?

We’re using the M1 timeframe.

When do we run the APE?

We recommend trading ONLY the ASIAN SESSION Monday-Friday.

If you decide to trade longer than that, then we urge you to close all open trades 2 hours before US session opens at the latest!

What are the different trading sessions?

There are three major forex trading sessions: The London session, the US session and the Asian session.

The Asian session is usually the least volatile session, and therefore the safest to trade using the APE.
The London session is also fine, if you are comfortable with how the market is moving.
The US session should be avoided every single day, it’s too volatile and unstable for the APE.

The three session times are as follows:
Asian session: 00.00 – 09.00 GMT
London session: 08.00 – 17.00 GMT
US session: 13.00 – 22.00 GMT

How to open up the APE settings window

When you have your chart open, right click on the chart -> click ‘Expert Advisors’ -> click ‘Properties’.

How to know what timezone your account is running on

You can see what time your current account is running on by clicking on the ‘Market Watch’ button in your MT4 client, and then look right below the button:

How to turn the APE on/off with one click

The APE can be turned entirely off or turned back on with the “AutoTrading” button at the top of your MT4 client, as shown below:

My support ticket disappeared, what happened?

If the ticket has been inactive for a long time, we’re going to close it down. Don’t worry though, a transcript of the conversation will be sent as a private message to your Discord account automatically with our Ticket Tool, so you can revisit what we discussed.

Should you require further assistance, you are always welcome to open another ticket.

How do I see my open trades - and how do I close them?

First step is to click on the ‘Terminal’ button in the top left corner of your screen:

A window will pop up at the bottom of your screen. Click on the first tab that says ‘Trade’:

Once there, you will see a list of your currently open trades. On the fast right side of each trade, you’ll see a little X that you can click to close the trade immediately.

My APE licence has expired - What do I do now?

If you see a message on your chart saying that your licence has expired, then don’t worry!

We set the APE files to expire at the end of every month, so in the case of someone quitting the group, they won’t be able to run the APE without renewing their membership.

All you have to do is follow the steps in ‘How do i download and install the Limitless APE’ again. There will always be a fresh APE file for you in #ape-download on Discord as well.

When can I start a Prop Firm challenge?

We highly recommend being able to complete one of FTMO’s 14 day trial challenges before you attempt a real challenge. Passing the trial will mean you are ready!

My APE is off but there are still open trades - What do I do?

Turning off your APE only prevents it from taking new trades. Your current open trades will still be active and will need your attention. This is mostly going to be a judgement call on your behalf, there’s not a single answer that will fit all situations and account settings.

What we personally do, is manually close all currency trades immediately when we turn off the APE. We might let the gold chart run a bit longer, if we feel like it could potentially reach its profit target.

In most cases, it won’t mean a big loss to just close everything and call it a day, and then just be happy with the profits you managed to make.

Where do I see my current account balance?

If you follow the steps in ‘Where do I see my open trades – and how do I close them’ then you’ll be guided to the ‘Trade’ tab. Here you’ll see the current balance of your account:

How do I know if the APE has been installed correctly on the chart?

If you can see a little happy smiley face in the top right corner of your chart, along with some colored numbers right beneath it, the APE is correctly installed:

Does my APE keep running even if I close down my computer?

If you have bought a VPS like we highly recommend, then it will be online 24/7 even if your own computer is turned off. You will not need to keep your own PC or Mac on!

How do I close chart tabs?

Right click on the tab you want to close at the bottom of your screen and click ‘Close’.

How do I login to a new account in my MT4 client?

To log into a new trading account, for example when your FTMO trial has expired and you’ve got a new account with fresh credentials, all you have to do is click on File -> Login to Trade Account.


A window will pop up where you can input your credentials, as shown below:

I’m getting a “Trading Not Allowed” Error - What do I do?

Make sure your AutoTrading button at the top is turned on:

Also make sure that ‘Allow Live Trading’ and ‘Allow DLL imports’ are both ticked in the common tab of the APE settings:

My VPS is very slow - what can I do to speed it up?

The VPS can become quite sluggish if you have your Market Watch window set to show all symbols. Once you have selected the pairs your need from the list, we recommend right clicking the symbols list and selecting ‘Hide all’ to limit the CPU usage the MT4 client uses to update all of these numbers constantly:


Besides that, it can be a good idea to close the ‘Terminal’ window while you have many
trades running, so the client doesn’t have to constantly update those too.

We also highly recommend rebooting your whole VPS every weekend, that can be done from within your Cloudzy client area with a single click. This makes sure your VPS is always up to date and ready to roll!

I can’t see gold in the symbols window - what’s wrong?

If you haven’t properly logged into your account on MT4, there will be a ‘No Connection’ error in the bottom right corner of your client. If that’s the case, right click on it and click login.

Sometimes it can take a few tries before it connects properly. When successful, you should be able to see all the symbols in the ‘Market Watch’ tab. Right click and select ‘Show All’ like shown below:

My APE disappeared from the chart, how do I get it back?

If you accidentally removed the APE from your chart, then all you have to do is click the ‘Navigator’ button at the top, then expand the ‘Expert Advisors’ folder and then drag your APE back on to the chart:

The ‘Expert Advisor’ option is missing when I right click the chart.

This means your APE has been removed from the chart for some reason. Please refer to the step above in “My ape disappeared from the chart, how do I get it back?” to see how you can fix this.
